Dr. Nirja Chawla is my attending gynecologist for more than 15 years. Her professional competence coupled with her ability to develop a personal rapport with the patient are her winning qualities.
She has a very vast experience and had obtained her M.B.B.S degree (Gold Medal) and subsequent M.D. degree from prestigious Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi.
I trusted her with a major surgery and some complicated procedures without being ever concerned about the risks since I felt so comfortable with her.
Routine check up visits to her clinic are more like social visits rather than nervous clinical inspections women have to face before an average gynecologist.
I have always recommended Dr. Nirja to all my friends and has never been proved wrong in my recommendations. I wish Dr. Nirja all the best and hope she will continue to serve her patients well and inspire younger medical practitioners to follow high standards set by her.

In February 2009, I went for my yearly check up at Fortis Hospital Mohali where in Ultrasound Multiple Uterine Fibroids with left Ovarian Dermoid was detected.

After which I contacted my family Doctor at Chandigarh to ask him how to proceed in the matter. The family Doctor recommended us to meet Dr. Nirja Chawla.

My first appointment with Dr. Chawla was on 6^th May 2009 in her clinic in Sector 44. She made me completely relaxed and before I could realize, she had assumed the role which can be called a mix of a physician, counsellor, advice-giver and guru. It felt very natural to trust her judgments. She explained the intended procedure in layman’s language.  She even took time out in a later meeting t explain the whole process to both our children. In addition, her guidance how to deal with Fortis for the surgery was very precise and non-fuss.

On the intended date and time of surgery, the hospital could not make the operation theatre available. Here also, her temperament to deal with this situation was excellent.

Just before the surgery, he demure was as calm and relaxed as ever which helped me to relax and keep a complete normal blood pressure throughout.

Her postoperative guidance was fantastic with 24X7 availability on phone. She could calmly relax my anxieties by just being her.

Dr. Chawla seems to have systematically developed empathy for patients as an extension of her technical confidence. She easily commands trust which is rarely found these days.

What surely needs to be mentioned here is her time-management that is impeccable, a quality that is an exception rather than a rule.

Now, in May  2011, when I felt a certain pressure/ pain in my  right lower abdomen, it was but natural for me to visit Dr. Chawla again.

I met Dr. Nirja Chawla in 2002, when I was living in the Chandigarh region in India. I had been on the lookout for a good Gynaecologist and chanced to read her name in the newspaper. I went to her clinic at 385, Sector-44, Chandigarh and was quite impressed with her knowledge of Gynae-Endocrinology and minimally invasive procedures.
From 2002 until the time I left India in 2008, she was my Gynaecologist. I used to go to her for my regular checkups as well as treatment for various gynaecological related problems. Besides prescribing medication and ordering various laboratory tests, she successfully conducted, on one occasion, vaginal cryosurgery procedure on me.
I have lived for many decades in North-West India and consulted several reputed Gynaecologists in my life; based on my experience, I can confidently say that Dr. Chawla is one of the best Obstetrician-Gynaecologists in the region.
